View Full Version : EBAY
JULIAN.R 13th March 2009, 01:45 AM Hi guys just wandering if anybody out there has made or is making money on ebay, ive been looking into doing stuff for a while but keep procrastinating. Has anybody had any success if so do you mind posting and telling us about it.
Cheers guys
P.S. Yay broke the century mark in posts with this post...:drink-toast::clapping:
Bill Stacy 13th March 2009, 07:40 AM I've sold heaps of stuff on ebay. It works. I think some people sell other people's stuff and get the people who own the stuff to ship it to the buyers (drop shipping). There are ebooks out there that show you how to do it exactly. Here's an article I just found (I adapted the links for Australia) seems like it has some good starting advice...
http://www.wikihow.com/Set-up-a-Drop-Ship-Business-on-eBay
Steps
Select your Niche Market. Copy and paste this link into your web browser and select your market (e.g. "Antiques & Art") http://shop.ebay.com.au/allcategories/all-categories?_trksid=m38.
Set your financial goal (i.e. Create $300 a week in profits).
Set up an eBay Seller account. Copy and paste this link into your web browser http://www.ebay.com.au (http://www.ebay.com.au/)
Do eBay Research.
Go to eBay
Click "Advanced Search"
Enter product within your Niche Market (i.e. Art Deco lamps)
Sort by "Price Highest First"
Select "Completed listings only"
Click "Search"
Make note of the best selling products
Go to the web to find an online distributor. Go to www.Google.com and search for one of the "hot selling products" you discovered in STEP 4. When you find a website selling the same or similar products, make note of it in your Drop Ship Journal (url, email, telephone #, contact name).
Alternatively you could use a directory or other drop ship source such as www.worldwidebrands.com (http://worldwidebrands.com/?kbid=25552), Doba or SimpleSource - they do the work of finding legitimate dropshippers for you.
Keep doing step 5 until you have a list of 40 websites that have products you want to sell on eBay.
Establish an account as a retailer with the online distributor (website). Get the "contact information" and either email or telephone, or send a letter asking how to become a retailer of their products and ask if they will drop ship to your customers.
Copy and paste product picture and description from distributor's website to desktop. Once you have set up a retailer account (See Step 7) you need to go to their website and copy the pictures and description of the products you want to sell on your desktop (e.g. create a folder on my desktop for each retailer and then create a sub-folder for each product).
Create an eBay listing on Turbo Lister. You'll be using the images and descriptions you got in Step 8 and upload to eBay.
Answer the customer's emails.
Once your customer purchases the item from your eBay auction, you simply contact the distributor & give your customer's shipping address.
Distributor sends product directly to your customer": You never, never, never have to see or handle the product! It's like magic!
Post auction review: Here you'll evaluate your profits/loss for each auction and either change your approach or if it's working and you're making good profit - carry on doing what you're doing :)
Relist every Sunday at 8PM religiously as if your life depends on it! Create a folder in Turbo Lister called "relist folder" and make certain you put all your auctions in the folder (taking out the ones that didn't make money) and relist every Sunday at 8pm.
Tips
Before you do anything, get a Journal (http://www.wikihow.com/Keep-a-Journal) and write, "My drop ship business on eBay Journal" on the front. If you're serious about taking action -- instead of just reading, then get your journal now. Immediate action is the secret ingredient to success in any area of life. Now you're ready to roll!
Don't be surprised if the supplier you contact for a retail account requests a tax ID. In order to purchase products at a wholesale cost, many will require this information.
I've yet to sell my DVDs on there but I'm thinking of doing it.
It's a good way to raise money. Go around your house and put stickers on everything you think you could sell. You'd be surprised how much you would raise.
Darren Milburn 13th March 2009, 02:06 PM G'day all at ODW,
In reply to your question Julian,we've sold quite a bit of stuff on ebay, not in a business sense but just stuff that that would otherwise go to friends for nothing. I still can't believe that people have paid us good money for some of this stuff but I'm not complaining.
If you're interested in ebay as an ongoing passive income stream, there was a website I looked at called www.biddingbuzz.com. An Aussie couple run it so it may be what your looking for.
Anybody else looking to raise funds for the DVD'S, selling some stuff from around the house that you no longer use will go a long way to paying for them.
Hope this is useful information.
Regards
Darren
JULIAN.R 13th March 2009, 02:20 PM Hi Bill and Darren thanks for the reply i have some dvd's from Bidding Buzz good stuff, have already signed up with Worldwide Brands, looking at doing some dropshipping using market research from a company called Terapeak.
Got to get my abn or the drop ship companies on WWB wont work with me, also got to find a Niche to specialize, might just try and sell some stuff from around the house just to get that first sale under my belt.
Cheers guys
Darren Milburn 13th March 2009, 02:26 PM Good luck with it Julian and keep us informed as to how you go.
Darren
JULIAN.R 13th March 2009, 02:34 PM No probs mate will do. I want to set up a second income so that I'm not just relying on trading which will take some of the stress out of trading hopefully making it easier to pull the trigger when you know you should be getting on a trade.
Cheers mate.
Leah 19th March 2009, 09:20 PM Matt and Amanda Clarkson would be worth checking out.

I haven't watched this but it's a current affair interview.
My hubby was out of work for 6 months so we had NO income - scary but we managed to sell about $30k worth of stuff to get us through. (OK so not many people have $11k of hay in their shed but...) We used ebay and trading post. Trading Post have now set up their own auction site haven't they? Haven't used that yet.
If only I thought of selling this stuff so I could do Bill's course a year ago when I thought I had "no" money!!!
Good luck Julian
Tracyh 12th April 2009, 08:25 PM Hi Guys,
I am new here and from all the buzz cant wait to get started. In regards to the ebay thing, I have brought Matt and Amandas course from bidding buzz. I started with selling all the things from around the house, then joined WWB and Terapeak. There are also some china sites you can get cheap stuff from but be very wary as i have already been bitten by them. The course is geat and I am attending a 3 day seminar at Gold Coast next weekend where I get to meet Matt and Amanda (which I am so looking forward to).
I have found a couple of little niche markets and doing ok with them. Im not making mega bucks but have started the ball rolling and now looking at a second stream of income (Day Trading). Hopefully can give my full-time job up soon and just concentrate on these and then add other forms of income as I go. Back to Ebay..... I would recommend the biddingbuzz course.

Leah 13th April 2009, 05:52 AM Well done Tracy, it's amazing how much "stuff" we have lying the house around isn't it!
You'll love Bill's course.
Darren Milburn 7th May 2009, 12:25 PM How did the seminar and meet and greet go Tracy?Did you find it beneficial?
Regards
Darren
Leah 7th May 2009, 10:22 PM from a Matt and Amanda Clarkson email: our new book (called "Our Internet Secrets") is going to be on the shelves at the end of this month
Tracyh 20th May 2009, 04:51 PM Hi Darren,
The seminar was amazing!!!!
I thought I knew alot, but learnt heaps more. The group of people there were so amazing and positive. You know its surprising how many people there are who are looking for investments , etc to get them out of the rat race.
I have had a few health and family issues since I got back from the seminar so havent been able to put all the stuff I learnt into practise but all is sorted now so its full steam ahead.

ChrisB 10th August 2009, 02:35 AM I've just started selling some laptops on EBay, and ive noticed that there seams to be alot of dodgy people on there, its either people bidding on my laptops with nicked accounts (according to the notifications ebay has sent me) or people that bid and dont pay. I've listed the same laptop 3 times now because of those reasons, so for me EBay hasnt been a good introduction too my fund raising/second income.
Cant forget to mention that their fees are a bit on the high side.
/Rant
Anyway, does anyone know of some other alternate aussie auction websites?
Cheers
Chris
Leah 10th August 2009, 08:52 AM That's not good. Try Oztion. Trading Post now have an auction section.
Tracyh 10th August 2009, 09:19 AM Thats tough Chris. I have to say I am pulling good profits from ebay at the moment and I am only running 8 items over and over. I have over $4k of stock in my spare room that is fully paid for by ebay profits and Im now going to start taking my goods to the Sunday morning markets and selling there as well. I hope things work out for you....good luck!
Tracy
Bill Stacy 10th August 2009, 09:48 AM Don't take bids from people with less than several feedback items? "Negative feedback bidders must contact me first or your bid will be cancelled"...etc might help. I never have any problems buying or selling on ebay but it can be a hassle at times. Don't give up on ebay though, there is no auction site anywhere near the quality and traffic of eBay.
ChrisB 11th August 2009, 05:40 PM Forgot about TradingPost, might give it a try with one from the next lot im getting next week, Thanks Leah.
Thanks Tracy, hope things go just as well for you at the sunday markets as well.
Bill, thats one thing I forgot to do with my first listings is put restrictions on who can bid depending on their feedback, although it wouldnt have made much difference with 1 of the acutions as the person had the right feedback but it was someone else on the account, not the actual owner of the account that bidded (ie nicked/stolen account).
Hopefully things pick up a bit and I get a few sales, need to get a few more $$ togeather for my trading bank and upcoming car expenses.
While Im here, What does everyone use to build templates for your actions?
I dont know too much HTML code but I can figure out how to nick off with HTML code from others sites/auctions if i see something I can use in my auctions.
Cheers
Chris
Tracyh 11th August 2009, 05:45 PM Hi Chris,
I use Auctiva. It use to be free but now there is a small charge but depending on how many listings you intend using it works out value for money and gives you professional looking listings. Hope that helps.
