Just had my first 2 days paper trading in the trading chat room. What a fantastic experience !! The other traders are so willing to help when us newbies get stuck and offer advice and explanations - it is an incredibly supportive environment.

I have a lot to learn, posts to re-read and videos to watch again, but things are slowly starting to fall into place.

Thanks for your help and support - it is greatly appreciated.

We are all here to help each other Tamsin. And we all try our best to be helpful and supportive.

As you learn and grow as a trader, you will find that soon enough you will start answering some of the questions asked by newbies. Answering the questions of others and having to actually put your knowledge into words is a great way of re-affirming your own knowledge.

Hi Tamsin....How did you go over the 2 days of paper trading, When i started paper trading I fell into the trap of thinking " its not real anyway so why not buy some more".....in a nutshell not sticking to the trading plan. When I got serious and treated it like a small buisness and was accountable for my actions ( I kept a diary explaining why I bought etc) it all came together for me. Whilst I still make silly mistakes sometimes, I have learnt to be patient because the market will always be there tomorrow and i want to be there too.

Thanks Brett & Jason

I came to the realisation after Fridays trading when I merrily hopped onto a trade (which turned out profitable) that I had got on because it looked ok, not that it necessarily met the conditions and that I needed to consider whether I would make a trade with real money or not, and if not, then don't papertrade it (other than maybe out of general interest !!) - but basically what you've said, Jason - treat it properly like a business - the market isn't going anywhere, but patience will be the biggest lesson I have to learn. I am going to study the charts closely and see where people got in and learn more on the entry side of things to improve my skills there - and practice patience - crawl before I walk.
