Hi All,

Whilst I was sharing (what I find to be very useful) websites that provide valuable information to assist in trade making decisions, I thought I would also post this one for you all.

How many times have you got into a trade then for some reason the price drops/raises by 50 or so cents and your option price has not moved at all??

We have all come to learn that this is what happens around reporting season, dividend payment announcements and payment dates.

On announcement of a report, be it Interim or Full you will usually see some change in the stock price.
This announcement will now have the market speculating on what dividend is going to be paid
Dividend announcements are also a specified date, this is where the price of options starts to take into account the dividend amount that will be paid
Payment dates, this is the day when the stock price moves, yet your option does not.

I have fallen into this trap in the past so thought I would provide you with the tool I now use to ensure I am always aware when such announcements are going to be made.

As you are all aware there are probably many tools available, however the easiest to use website that I have found which provides all of this information in an easy to read format is as follows:

http://www.incomeinvestor.com.au/

The attached pictures provide an idea of the information you are able to get from this site.
You will see both Upcoming Reporting Dates, and Upcoming Dividend Announcement and Payment dates

You will have a pretty good idea of upcoming dividend dates based upon the previous dividend dates as mostly they are around the same couple of times each year for each stock.

Please feel free to take a surf and ensure you too are always aware of reporting seasons and dividend payment dates.
